BMR & TDEE calculator
Estimates basal metabolic rate (BMR) with the Mifflin–St Jeor equation and total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) by multiplying BMR by an activity factor.

The formula
Men: BMR = 10 × mass(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age(y) + 5
Women: BMR = 10 × mass(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age(y) − 161
TDEE ≈ BMR × activity factor (kcal/day)
Women: BMR = 10 × mass(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age(y) − 161
TDEE ≈ BMR × activity factor (kcal/day)
Limitations
- Mifflin–St Jeor was developed in healthy adults; error for any individual can be roughly ±10% or more.
- It does not use body composition — very muscular or very lean people may be under-estimated, and people with obesity may be over- or under-estimated.
- Activity factors are broad conventions, not measurements. Track body-mass trends for 2–4 weeks and adjust intake.
- Not suitable for children, pregnancy, or medical conditions affecting metabolism.
Important
This is an estimate for education and planning, not a clinical measurement. Anyone with a history of disordered eating, a medical condition or who is pregnant should work with a registered dietitian or physician rather than using calorie targets.
